The Phantom of the Opera

The Phantom of the Opera by Gaston Leroux
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I love this story, it is one of my all time favourite books. Though I recommend that it needs to be read at the very least two times, and so does Sir Lloyd Andrew Webber. Hahaha :P
I remember receiving it in my last year of primary school, as a prize on Speech Day, thanks Codrington High School(now known as Codrington Primary School).
Yet, I would never read it until some years later.

There is a strong theme of passion throughout the story. A passion for love, music, dance, theatre, and opera. A desired passion to be accepted, to be noticed, to be LOVED, and of course a strong passion for possessiveness.
The story is dark, sensual, mysterious, a bit lively, and is filled with much suspense. The characters are enjoyable, and I fell in love with all of them.

Also understand, the book and the musical are vastly different. Sir Andrew took from the book to make his version of it through music, which also rocked. So if you haven't seen the broadway musical, I also recommend that ;).
However I recommend this first. :D

A Countess Below Stairs

A Countess Below Stairs by Eva Ibbotson

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book was such a joy to read.

Not only will you fall in love with the main characters, but with most of the supporting characters as well. You'll be drawn in to that era, ache for the romance to bloom, and yearn for that happy ending.

I found myself completely engrossed on every page. It was an absolute blast, and I've been recommending this already to friends :).

Daughters of Darkness

Daughters of Darkness by L.J. Smith

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I first read this book when I was probably 15 or 16 yrs old, so let me see what I can review from my memory;
I've always loved romance stories, and of course back then supernatural stories were big to me. So when I came across these two genres at the time, I was ecstatic. I had enjoyed reading it so much; the characters and the story plot had captivated my teen-aged mind.
I remember the girls being very strong individuals, and the supernatural boys intriguing characters. In the end, you couldn't help but fall in love with both the good guys and the bad guys. ;)

For the longest time my sister and I had been trying to remember this book, but never could, and finally now, after all this time, I found it.

I'm so excited! I'm very happy I finally found it, I want to read it over some day.

Introduction

Well, this blog will centre around my love for books. All books that I enjoyed from a young child up till now, I will try to post here, just for fun.
Anyone is more than welcome to check it out. :) You might find a book you once enjoyed years ago that left your mind.
Like the first book I'm going to post. A book I enjoyed as a teen, and found it again tonight.^-^ After a very long time.
My blog posts will simply be reviews taken from a website I just joined(it's where I found this book) Goodreads.
